Tellus Mater is the creative vision of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Todd Rouse, blending alt-rock, pop, and cinematic soundscapes with deeply personal songwriting, emotional depth, and immersive production.

At the heart of Tellus Mater are real-life experiences transformed into music. Todd writes from the moments that shape us — love, loss, struggle, change, reflection, and connection. By sharing his own experiences honestly through his songs, he hopes to create a deeper understanding between people and remind listeners that even our most personal stories can carry something universal.

Todd first made his mark with the band East of Gideon, which emerged from the South Florida music scene before relocating to Los Angeles. As a keyboardist, vocalist, and songwriter, Todd was part of the band's rise as they sold out legendary venues including the Whisky a Go Go and secured a six-album deal with JRS Records. Along the way, he shared stages with artists including Lenny Kravitz, Nirvana, and Rage Against the Machine, and worked in the studio with acclaimed producers and engineers including Butch Vig and Greg Ladanyi.

Today, Todd channels that musical journey and a lifetime of experiences into Tellus Mater — creating soulful, original music built around honest songwriting, memorable melodies, cinematic atmosphere, and lush, immersive production.

The debut Tellus Mater single, “Alone With You,” was released November 25, 2025, introducing a new chapter and leading into a five-song EP recorded and produced by Matt Cotterill in Birmingham, United Kingdom. The project includes the singles “Alone With You,” “Gone,” and “Seems to Me.”
